2027: Oyo Rep’s member advocates micro-zoning for Oyo North senatorial seat

Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem, representing Saki West, Saki East, and ATISBO federal constituency, has proposed micro-zoning for the Oyo North senatorial seat to ensure justice, fairness, and equity. This suggestion aims to address the ongoing debate over who will succeed Senator Abdulfatai Buhari.

During a consultatative visit to APC leaders and stakeholders in Iseyin, the lawmaker disclosed his proposal for micro-zoning in the Oyo North senatorial seat. The visit covered Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, and Kajola federal constituency.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, political actors are already gearing up for a fierce contest..

Another to him, the agitation for the senatorial seat to be zoned to Okeogun is driven by a quest for fairness, not a criticism of the current senator’s performance

Hon. Kareem suggested an agreement between Okeogun’s micro-zones (Okeogun 1 and Okeogun 2) for the senatorial seat. He noted that Okeogun 1 has produced two senators (Gbenga Babalola and Hosea Ogboola Hallelujah), while Okeogun 2 has only had one (the late Senator Robert Koleosho).

He urged party leaders to adopt a zoning formula that would allocate the senatorial seat to Okeogun zone 2, aligning with the existing arrangement.

According to the agreement, Okeogun zone 1 should step aside and allow Okeogun zone 2 to take the senatorial seat.

Hon. Kareem called on party leaders to field a strong, capable, and charismatic candidate in the 2027 election, rather than an unfamiliar face.
