6,532 students begin 2024/2025 academic journey at Oke-Ogun Polytechnic

The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) has matriculated a record 6,532 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The ceremony, which took place on March 25, 2025, was a momentous occasion for the institution, marking a significant milestone in its history.

The matriculation ceremony commenced with a procession led by the 6,532 matriculating students. This was followed by a solemn oath-taking ceremony, which was administered by the institution’s registrar, Mr. Ojo Adeolu Ayangbemiga.

The Rector, Dr. (Sur) S.A Ajibola ,emphasized that TOPS is on a mission to become a world-class institution, with various mechanisms in place to achieve this feat. He also highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, noting that all its programs are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

This accreditation, according to the Rector, serves as an added advantage and reassurance to the matriculating students, providing them with a solid foundation for their academic pursuits.

According to the Rector, Dr. (Sur) S.A Ajibola, the matriculation of such a large number of students is a testament to the institution’s growing reputation and commitment to providing quality education.

He sounds a note of warning to the students against complacency, urging them to be prepared for the academic challenges ahead. He also warned them to shun unregistered associations and cultism activities, emphasizing that any form of misconduct would be sanctioned in accordance with TOPS rules.

The Rector’s warning comes as a reminder to the students that their academic journey is just beginning, and that they must remain committed to their studies to achieve success.

The students, who were admitted into various programs, including Science, Financial Management Studies, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Agricultural and Natural Resources, and Business and Communications, were urged to take their studies seriously and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

The event featured partnership with Wema bank on campus, which is expected to provide students with easier access to banking services and enhance their overall learning experience.

The Students showcased their talents in ewi, cultural dance, and other performances, demonstrating their artistic skills and creativity and the institution’s management rewarded the talented students, encouraging them to continue developing their skills.

The ceremony was attended by academic scholars, dignitaries, Deans, Deputy Registrars, Academic Directors, HODs, School Officers, members of the SUG government, and other invited guests.
