One person has been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries after an articulated vehicle rammed into multiple vehicles around the Agodi Gardens area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred after the truck had allegedly crushed several vehicles around the Sango area of the city before proceeding towards Agodi Gardens.
One of the eyewitnesses told newsmen that the driver was allegedly attempting to escape after the earlier incidents when the truck reached the Agodi axis and rammed into a motorcycle and other vehicles.
The impact reportedly claimed the life of a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, while several other people sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The incident caused traffic disruption around the area, forcing a diversion of motorists as operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived at the scene to manage the situation and facilitate the movement of traffic.
FRSC personnel confirmed that the injured victims had been evacuated to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Speaking on the incident, a victim, Kehinde Olajide, and an eyewitness, Paul Onoja, provided accounts of the crash in separate interviews.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the cause of the crash and the identity of the deceased, were yet to be fully established as of the time of filing this report.
