Okere Presents Six Vehicles to Traditional Chiefs in Saki

The Okere of Sakiland, Oba (Dr.) Surv. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has donated six vehicles to traditional chiefs in Saki to strengthen the traditional institution and enhance the efficiency of their official responsibilities.

The vehicles were presented at the palace of the Okere of Sakiland on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in recognition of the beneficiaries’ support for the traditional council and their contributions to the institution.

The beneficiaries are Bapon, Bamobi, Beesin, Bada, Baale Koko and Baale Okeoro of Saki.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Bakoja of Saki, High Chief Amos Olaoye, described Oba Oyedepo as a custodian of culture and tradition, commending his commitment to strengthening the traditional institution.

He also described Governor Seyi Makinde as an important partner of traditional institutions, noting that traditional rulers and chiefs remained indispensable intermediaries between government and grassroots communities.

According to him, the gesture went beyond improving the comfort of the beneficiaries, as it was also intended to enhance their capacity to discharge their traditional responsibilities effectively.

He added that improved mobility would enable the chiefs to serve their respective domains more efficiently, particularly in promoting peace, security and stability across their communities.

However, in what could be described as an *Oliver Twist appeal, the Bakoja of Saki called for the extension of the gesture to other traditional chiefs who were yet to benefit from the vehicle donation.

He said extending the initiative to the remaining chiefs would further strengthen the traditional council, improve the discharge of their responsibilities and promote effective grassroots administration across Sakiland.

The appeal confirmed the need for continued support for traditional institutions, given their roles in conflict resolution, cultural preservation, community mobilisation and the maintenance of peaceful coexistence.
