The Aare and Paramount Ruler of Àgọ́-Àrẹ Kingdom, Aláyélúwà Ọba Abodunrin Oyetunji Kofoworola Olakanla II, has called on Muslims to sustain the spiritual discipline of Ramadan and promote unity across communities as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
In a goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah in Àgọ́-Àrẹ, the monarch congratulated faithful on successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan, describing it as “a divine school of discipline” and “a sacred journey of purification.”
“Ramadan is not merely a period on the calendar; it is a profound reminder of our duties to Allah and to one another,” the monarch said.
He urged adherents not to abandon the virtues cultivated during the fasting period, stressing that Eid should mark “the beginning of a higher spiritual responsibility.”
“Let the lessons of patience, humility, generosity, and unwavering faith continue to guide your daily lives,” he added. “Let your homes radiate peace, your hearts overflow with compassion, and your actions reflect the true teachings of Islam.”
The traditional ruler also emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence within the community, calling for renewed commitment to tolerance and brotherhood among residents regardless of religious differences.
“I passionately beseech the Muslim Ummah in Ago-Are to embrace this moment as a turning point—a passage into a renewed era of religious tolerance, unity, and communal brotherhood,” he said. “Our strength as a people has always been rooted in our togetherness.”
Condemning division and intolerance, the monarch encouraged residents to “build bridges of understanding” and work collectively toward a peaceful and prosperous future.
“As your Royal Father, I call on all sons and daughters of Ago-Are to remain steadfast in prayers for our community, our state, and our nation,” he stated, while also urging support for the less privileged.
The monarch concluded by praying for acceptance of worship, forgiveness, and continued blessings for the community.
“May Almighty Allah accept all our acts of worship, forgive our shortcomings, and grant us abundant blessings,” he said. “Eid Mubarak.”
