Ahmed Raji Boosts Education with State-of-the-Art CBT Centre,Awards Scholarships

A prominent legal figure, Alhaji Ahmed Adeniyi Raji, SAN, has gifted a state-of-the-art, grade A Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to the Federal Government. The centre is designed to accommodate millions of students taking the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB) exams across the country..

The 250-seater CBT centre, situated at Raji-Oke Esa Memorial Comprehensive High School in Iseyin, Oyo State, was conceived and constructed by Alhaji Ahmed Raji. Driven by a desire to support vulnerable students, he aimed to mitigate the risks of accidents and long-distance travel associated with taking the exam.

A large crowd gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony, comprising traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, federal delegation officials, students, artisans, traders, and many others, who turned out in force to mark the occasion.

The centre, constructed through Alhaji Ahmed Raji’s foundation, Raji-Esa Foundation, was officially handed over to Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), representing the agency.

The donation was motivated by Alhaji Ahmed Raji, SAN’s desire to alleviate the stress and challenges faced by students traveling long distances to access CBT facilities. A tragic accident last year, which claimed many lives, was a significant factor in his decision to make this gesture.

“We can no longer compromise the safety of our children,” he stated, highlighting the reasoning behind his generous donation.

In his remarks, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede praised Alhaji Raji for his generosity and significant contributions to education and society, saying, “Your dedication to Nigeria’s educational advancement is truly exemplified by this act,” and conveyed JAMB’s appreciation for the donation.

Gov. Seyi Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Segun Olayiwola, also lauded Alhaji Raji SAN for his continued support to the government and the good people of Oyo State. “This donation is not surprising, given your track record of philanthropy,” the Governor’s representative said. “Your contributions to education in Oyo State are numerous and commendable.”

Alhaji Raji’s philanthropic endeavors were showcased, including his recent donation of a 500-seater hall to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Iseyin Campus. His initiatives demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing education in Oyo State, particularly in the Oke-Ogun region.

Alhaji Ahmed Raji also made a generous announcement, establishing scholarships in honor of Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and Chief Imam of Iseyin Abdul-Akeem Babatunde Olajori. The scholarships will recognize the Best Overall Student, Best Female Student, and Best Character Student, showcasing his commitment to fostering academic excellence.

The event drew a notable gathering of dignitaries, including Oba Dr. Rafiu Osuolale Mustapha, the Onjo of Okeho; Prof. Adeolu Akande, former Chairman of the Nigeria Communication Commission; Sen. Fatai Buhari, Senator for Oyo North; and several other distinguished guests.
