All Eyes on Friday as Alli Enters Guber Contest, Challenges Status Quo in Oyo

The Senator representing Oyo South, High Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli is set to formally declare his intention to contest the governorship of Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.


‎The declaration ceremony will hold on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Divisional Police Station Training Field in Yemetu, with proceedings scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

‎According to information made available by the aspirant to Goalpoachernews, the event is expected to attract a wide array of dignitaries, including party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the 33 local government areas of the state.

‎Alli is expected to use the occasion to unveil his campaign vision, themed “Empowering Oyo State: A New Dawn,” which outlines his plans for development and governance.

‎Political observers say the declaration marks an early move in what is likely to become an active governorship race, as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 elections.

‎Speaking ahead of the event, Alli said his decision to run is rooted in a desire to serve the people and move the state forward.

‎He stressed the need for policies that will improve the economy, strengthen infrastructure and support the welfare of residents.

‎“This declaration is about a shared vision for progress and real opportunities for the people of Oyo State,” he said.

‎He also called on party members and supporters across the state to attend the event, describing it as the beginning of a collective journey.

‎“I invite everyone to be part of this moment as we begin a new chapter for our state and work together toward a better future,” Alli added.
