As political momentum gathers pace ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has intensified consultations within the All Progressives Congress (APC), holding a strategic engagement with party leaders and stakeholders in Saki.
The meeting, which drew key APC stakeholders from Saki West, Saki East, and the ATISBO federal constituency, is part of a wider statewide political outreach by the senator ahead of his anticipated governorship declaration scheduled for April 17.
Described by party insiders as a “calculated and timely political move,” the engagement focused on consolidating internal support, strengthening grassroots structures, and reinforcing unity within the APC ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested primary.
Speaking at the forum, Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun, who represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed optimism about the party’s electoral strength, insisting that the APC remains well-positioned for victory. He, however, reaffirmed the principle of party supremacy, stressing that all members would ultimately align with the decision of the party leadership on its governorship candidate.
The session also provided a platform for stakeholders to voice concerns around internal cohesion and emerging political alignments as preparations for the 2027 governorship contest intensify. Attendees included ward chairmen, youth leaders, and other influential grassroots operatives drawn from across the constituency.
Senator Alli was accompanied by a strong delegation of political allies, including Chief Akinyemi Akinlabi, Hon. Dauda Abiola, Hon. Johnson Ayanleke, Dr. Tunji Olanipekun, and Hon. Bayo Aderounmu, among others.
The APC governorship hopeful ,used the opportunity to articulate his vision for the state, emphasizing inclusiveness, internal consensus-building, and party unity as key pillars for electoral success. He maintained that sustained consultations across federal constituencies had strengthened his conviction to formally enter the race.
According to him, the current political climate within the party makes this the most appropriate time to declare his governorship ambition, adding that he remains confident in his experience and capacity to lead Oyo State.
He further urged other aspirants to embrace unity and rally behind the eventual candidate of the party, stressing that internal harmony would be critical to securing victory in 2027.
