As the Ondo State governorship election on November 16 approaches, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is intensifying efforts to strengthen its influence across the Southwest.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, made this declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure on Sunday, attended by key figures from the APC National Working Committee (NWC).
Ganduje was joined by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Talabi Olatokunbo.
Also in attendance were Isaac Kekemeke, APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Ajibola Bashiru, APC National Secretary, and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, alongside other prominent members of the party in the Southwest.
In his address, Ganduje emphasized the need for APC to reclaim Oyo and Osun states to secure a stronger base for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. While refraining from disclosing the party’s strategies, he urged party leaders to maintain unity and work closely to achieve their goals.
He confidently described the Ondo election as a “walkover” for the APC, with all national leaders backing incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Ganduje also announced that Governor Sanwo-Olu would chair the National Campaign Council for the upcoming election.
“We must deliver 100 percent for APC in this region,” Ganduje declared. “Ondo must lead the way, and we will capture Oyo and Osun. We have our strategies, but everything must align behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He further urged members to rally grassroots support for Aiyedatiwa, stressing the importance of unity among all candidates who participated in the primary elections, adding, “There are no losers here—only a shared mission.”
