In a heart-stopping finale, Alao Football Academy from Saki emerged victorious over their opponents, United FC from Ago-Are in a penalty shootout, winning 8-7 after the match had ended 1-1 after regular time.
The event, which was held at a Baptist High School, Ago-Are on Sunday, 29th December, 2024 , saw Alao Football Academy face off against their opponents in a nail-biting finale
The spectators were on the edge of their seats and feats as the players from both teams stepped up to take their games. Alao Academy’s goalkeeper made three crucial saves, while their players calmly slotted home their penalties to secure the win.
The founder of Awodi-Oke foundation. Engr. Tosin Kolade Awodi-Oke was in attendance as Alao Football Academy took on their opponents from Ago-Are in a highly anticipated final match.
Awodi-Oke,who is well-known for his philanthropic gestures, support for local sports was the sponsor of the tournament and in attendance to present the trophy to the winning team. “I’m thrilled to have sponsored this event. It’s wonderful to see our local teams competing at such a high level.”, said Awodi-Oke .
However, the competition was organised by the Ago-Are Connect, a group known for its communal services within the community.
In a thrilling encounter, the winner emerged victorious, defeating their opponents with a stunning display of skill and teamwork and the penalty shootout got off to a dramatic start, with United’s first player scoring, only for the winning team to equalize.
The winning team who turned darkhorse was thrilled to have come out victoriously and the opponents said they gave in their best .
