Chieftain of APC and 2027 gubernatorial aspirant of Oyo State, Barr Akeem Agbaje, has congratulated Akeem Babatunde Abass on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Oyo State Council, describing his victory as a reflection of trust and confidence reposed in him by media professionals across the state.
Abass succeeds Ademola Babalola, who has led the Union since 2019 and is widely acknowledged for strengthening the Council’s structure and fostering unity within the journalism community.
In his congratulatory message, Barr Akeem Agbaje commended the new chairman for his dedication to the profession and his longstanding contribution to journalism in Oyo State. He noted that the confidence shown by members of the Union is an affirmation of Abass’s capacity, integrity and readiness to serve.
He also extended warm recognition to Babalola for what he called a committed and eventful tenure. According to him, the outgoing chairman leaves behind a record of service that has shaped the Council positively.
Barr Akeem Agbaje expressed hope that Abass’s leadership will further promote professionalism, ethical journalism and a strong relationship between the media and the public. He assured the new chairman of his support and wished him a successful tenure that will continue to uplift the standards of journalism in the state.
