Barrister Akeem Agbaje, a respected legal luminary and distinguished member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has clarified recent speculations regarding his role in the ongoing political developments surrounding the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election.
Contrary to reports and insinuations circulating within certain quarters, Barrister Agbaje has not anointed or endorsed any aspirant for the by-election. As a core party loyalist, Barrister Agbaje remains firmly committed to the ideals of internal democracy, fairness, and transparency in the political process.
Agbaje reiterated his belief that leadership must emerge through due process and collective party decision-making, not imposition. โI have not, and will not, anoint any candidate. The All Progressives Congress has structures and procedures for selecting its flagbearers, and I remain guided by those principles,โ he said.
Barrister Agbaje emphasized that his priority remains the unity and strength of the party, especially as the by-election presents a critical opportunity for the APC to consolidate its presence in Ibadan North. He called on party members and stakeholders to avoid divisive politics and to uphold the integrity of the selection process.
As a statesman known for his principled stance and unwavering commitment to democratic norms, Agbaje urged aspirants to engage with the partyโs internal mechanisms respectfully and to place the interest of the people above personal ambition.
โThe people of Ibadan North deserve quality representation, and we must ensure that whoever emerges as our candidate does so through a transparent and credible process,โ he added.
The APC leader concluded by reaffirming his support for any candidate duly elected through party procedures, and called on all party faithful to work together for a peaceful and successful election.
