Beulah, Adelabu,other dignitaries flock to Pay Tribute to Late Pa Amos Akande in Okeogun

A call has been made for the people of Oke Ogun Area in Oyo State to prioritize unity and work together, setting aside individual differences, in order to achieve collective progress and development in the region.

Delivering a keynote address at the final burial ceremony of Pa Amos Adetunji Akande, father of Prof. Adeolu Akande, Oyo State Deputy Governor Barr Bayo Lawal urged the people of Oke Ogun to put aside their differences and unite for the region’s growth and development. The ceremony was held at Baptist Church Otu.

He cited the people of Ibadanland as a prime example of unity, noting that they function as one big family, working together to achieve common goals and drive development in their region.

The Deputy Governor advocated for strong collaboration among Oke Ogun indigenes, emphasizing that true leadership is about easing the suffering of the people and freeing them from poverty,highlighted Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde’s initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Oyo State residents, particularly those in the Oke Ogun Area

Lawal revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde is working tirelessly to tackle insecurity in the state, citing the recent acquisition of surveillance aircraft to monitor and curb criminal activities across Oyo State.

The funeral ceremony drew a large gathering of distinguished guests, including Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former Governor of Ogun State, and his wife; Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, former Chief Justice of Nigeria; Senator Fatai Buhari; former Deputy Governors of Oyo State, Barr. Iyiola Oldokun and Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo; Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola Halleluyah; Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu; and other notable figures. In his eulogy, Rev. Dr. T.O. Jokotoye, Vice Chairman of the Baptist Conference, Lagos West Region, emphasized the inevitability of death, urging mourners to prepare for the afterlife, using the theme “No one knows what will happen” to drive home the message.

The cleric, who revealed that Pa Amos Akande was a Chelsea fan in life, urged the mourners to use their time wisely, plan for the future, and prepare for the unknown. He emphasized that only God knows when death will come, and encouraged individuals to reflect on their lives and strive to live with purpose. Rev. Dr. Jokotoye stressed that death is final, leaving no room for last-minute changes, corrections, or prayers, and therefore urged everyone to seek God’s grace, goodness, and blessings while still alive.

In his condolence message to the Akande family and the people of Oyo State, Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, urged Nigerians to stand by the current administration, expressing optimism that better times are ahead.

In their goodwill messages, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Barr Ahmed Raji SAN, Senator Hosea Ayoola Halleluyah, and Amofin Beulah Adeoye fondly remembered Pa Amos Akande, describing him as a lively, jovial, and caring father who left an indelible mark on their lives.

Pa Amos Adetunji Akande, the 90-year-old patriarch and father of Prof Adeolu Akande, was celebrated in a grand funeral attended by notable figures, including former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Sen. Fatai Buhari,Gbenga Adegbola, Akin Oke and former Chairman of Ibadan CCII, Chief Bayo Oyero, among other dignitaries.
