The 2007 alumni set of Baptist Medical Centre Secondary School, Saki, Oyo State, will commission the schoolโ€™s newly renovated library on Thursday,November 13, 2025. The announcement was made in a statement signed by Adekunle E. Ayandele (Secretary General) and Bolanle Oluwadamilola (Chairman) of the alumni association.

The alumni emphasized their shared values of perseverance and unity, reinforcing their dedication to uplifting their alma mater. The event marks a milestone in the groupโ€™s efforts to contribute to the schoolโ€™s growth.

The statement read:

โ€œThereโ€™s an old saying that goes, โ€œWhen you drink water, remember the well from which it came.โ€ For many of us in the Class of 2007, Baptist Medical Centre Secondary School, Saki, that well was our beloved alma materโ€”a place that shaped our values, ambitions, and friendships. It was within those walls that we learned the meaning of perseverance, community, and service. November 13th, 2025, we will stand to commission the newly renovated school library, we are reminded that giving back is one of the most profound ways to pay forward the opportunities we once received.

โ€œThe 2007 Alumni Set has always been bound by a rare spirit of unity. From the very beginning, our bond went beyond mere memories; it was a shared conviction that our journey did not end at graduation. This is because we held on to the saying of Chinua Achebe โ€“ โ€œWhen we gather in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so.โ€

โ€œSince our graduation, we have been holding annual reunion both online and in-person. Each year, through our consistent commitment, we have sustained our networkโ€”not just as an association of old classmates, but as a family of purpose-driven individuals determined to make a lasting impact on the school that made us who we are.

โ€œWhen the idea of renovating the school library was first conceived, it seemed an ambitious dream. Yet, our collective determination transformed that dream into reality. Throughgenerous contributions from within ourselves, and the unwavering participation of members near and far, The upgraded library now stands as a testament to what unity, discipline, and vision can achieve. It is not merely a building of books and shelvesโ€”it is a living symbol of progress, a hub of learning, and a legacy of love.

โ€œThis achievement also underscores the importance of structure and accountability in our alumni community. The steady remittance of annual dues by members formed the foundation of our financial strength, while the special fundraising campaign within members comes in for the library project to prove what we can accomplish when we come together with a shared goal. We do not have everything we aspire to have in life yet, but we understand that feats like these can only be achieved with sacrifice. Hence, every contributionโ€”big or smallโ€”told a story of commitment, gratitude, and pride.

โ€œAs we commission this project by November 13th,2025; we do so not as individuals seeking recognition, but as a united class giving back to the institution that gave us so much. We do so to inspire the current generation of studentsโ€”to show them that success is not only about personal advancement, but also about reaching back to uplift others. We do so to encourage other alumni sets to take up the torch of development and add their chapters to the story of this great school.

โ€œHowever, our journey does not end here. True giving is continuous, and true unity is sustained. The 2007 Alumni Set remains committed to supporting educational development, mentoring students, and contributing to future projects that will keep our alma mater thriving. We invite every memberโ€”active or quietโ€”to stay engaged and continue participating in our collective mission of progress. Every effort count: every hand strengthens the bond.

โ€œTo our fellow alumni, to the school administration, and to the students who will use this spaceโ€”this is our gift to you, from the heart of a grateful generation. May this library serve as a beacon of knowledge and a reminder that greatness grows where gratitude is planted.

Together, we have built more than a libraryโ€”we have built a legacy.
Together, we have proven that when unity meets purpose, the result is transformation.โ€
