Boosting Trade in Saki: Okere hosts Nigerian Export Promotion Council

The Okere of Saki, Dr. Sur. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has taken a significant step towards enhancing trade opportunities in the region by hosting the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). The meeting, held at the palace, focused on exploring ways to maximize the potential of the Okerete International Border Market.

With the aim of sensitizing major players on conducting legitimate businesses, the NEPC team, led by Executive Director/CEO Mrs. Nonge Ayeni, engaged with traders and stakeholders on bilateral and multilateral trade opportunities with neighboring countries. The monarch encouraged traders to register under cooperatives, highlighting the benefits of reduced overhead costs and increased commissions.

The Okere’s initiative is expected to promote economic growth, enhance trade facilitation, and increase the competitiveness of Nigerian products in the international market. By appealing to the government to establish a border post and leveraging the NEPC’s Export Bounded Warehouse initiative, the monarch is working to create a conducive environment for traders to thrive.
