Court resolves prolonged chieftaincy dispute in Saki,rules in favor of Adeleke Basapa

In a landmark judgment delivered today at the High Court Fiat 3 Ringroad Ibadan, Justice E.O. Olajide brought an end to the long-standing chieftaincy dispute over the Basapa of Saki title.

The court ruled in favor of Rahman Adeleke Basapa, the Okere of Saki, and Saki West Local Government, who were the defendants in the case.

Speaking after the judgment, Barrister Sarafadeen Onijo, counsel to Basapa and Saki West Local Government, expressed gratitude to God for the victory. “We dedicate this success to the Almighty God and the entire good people of Saki,” he said. “Justice has been served, and we are grateful for this outcome.”

The judgment is expected to bring stability and unity to the Saki community, which has been divided by the chieftaincy dispute for years.

Our correspondent reports that the Okere of Saki, HRM Oba Khalid Ilugbemidepo, the Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Akinola, and Chief Rahman Adeleke Basapa were among those who witnessed the judgment.

The court’s decision has been hailed as a victory for justice and a significant step towards peaceful coexistence in the Saki community.
