The Muslim community in Saki, Oyo State, came together to celebrate the 2025 Annual General Mawlid Nabiyy, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The event, held on September 7, 2025, at Ansarudeen High School, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Okere of Sakiland, Oba Khalid Olabisi, and CEOs of local businesses, such as Alh. Ismaheel Ayiki Dendebula of Ayiki’Ola Oil and Gas, Alh. Taofeeq Atanda Yusuff of Idris Atanda Foundation, and CEO Aderogba Filling Station.
The event highlighted the importance of unity among religious leaders, traditional rulers, political leaders,and other stakeholders in driving development.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Taofeeq Atanda Yusuff, Chairman of the occasion, expressed dissatisfaction with the current disunity among Muslim leaders in the community and urged stakeholders to put aside their differences for the greater good.
Alh. Ibrahim Alaro, a prominent scholar, delivered a lecture emphasizing that unity is key to development. He called on Islamic leaders to find strategies to unite scholars and promote collaboration. The Grand Chief Imam of Saki, Sheik Abdazeez Jejekunmi, led prayers for the progress and development of Islam in the community.
The Paramount Ruler of Saki, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi, extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community on the occasion of the Mawlid Nabiyy celebration. He advised the Muslim community to emulate the good virtues of Prophet Muhammad and strive for unity among different religious denominations.
In an interview with ITV ONLINE, Aare Musulumi of Saki, Alh. Moshood Akinwunmi Awidere, explained the significance of Prophet Muhammad’s birth and assured the community that efforts are underway to address lingering issues among religious leaders. He encouraged Muslims to remain committed to developing Islam in the area.
Prominent government officials attended the Mawlid Nabiyy celebration in Saki, Oyo State. Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem, Member of the House of Representatives, was represented by Alh. Sabitu Olofa. Additionally, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development,represented by Hon. Rafiu Adekunle and Hon. Gbenga Akinola, Chairman of Saki West Local Government, were also represented at the event.

The celebration concluded with a call to action for Muslims to embody the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, promote unity, and work towards the development of their community.
