Donning the Acket: Nursing Students in Saki prepare to make a difference

The College of Nursing Sciences, Muslim Medical Foundation, Saki, Oyo State, has embarked on a journey of service with the stripping and jacketing Ceremony for ND Nursing Students and the Midwifery Matriculation forset 2024. This symbolizes the students’ transition into the noble profession of nursing and midwifery, embodying the values of compassion, care, and dedication.

The ceremony, held at the College Auditorium,
was a grand celebration of the students’ hard work and commitment to their studies. The Stripping and jacketing ceremony signified the students’ readiness to embark on their nursing journey, while the matriculation ceremony welcomed new students into the academic folds.

In her address, the Provost, Alhaja Sanni Olalere, emphasized the importance of unity in diversity, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds and encouraging them to respect and appreciate differences. She cited Suratu Al-Imran (Chapter 3, Verse 103) and Suratu Al-Anfaal (Chapter 8, Verse 46), highlighting the importance of unity and obedience to Allah. She concluded with Nelson Mandela’s quote, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” emphasizing the need for harmony and unity to achieve positive change.

Guest speaker Alhaja Saidat Adetoro from the State Specialist hospital Saki highlighted the benefits of the nursing profession, including job security, self-confidence, and time management. She encouraged students to take pride in their chosen profession and strive for excellence in their studies and future careers.

The Chairman of the Management Board, Alhaji Yusuff Ismail Adebayo, charged the students to be committed to their studies, emphasizing the importance of hard work, dedication, and various training. He commended the founding fathers and those who have contributed significantly to the college, praying for the success of the students.

In a post-ceremony interview, Alhaja Adeleke Balikis emphasized the significance of capping in the nursing profession, noting that it symbolizes the students’ transition into the noble profession. She urged the students to face the challenges ahead with courage, determination, and resilience, and to uphold the values and principles of the nursing profession.

Mr. Abdulakeem Suharau, a parent, advised parents to be watchdogs of their children in school, ensuring they stay focused on their studies. He encouraged students to avoid distractions, particularly from excessive social media use, and prioritize their academic goals.

The ceremony was a fitting tribute to the students’ hard work and commitment, celebrating their decision to pursue a career in nursing. As the students embark on their academic journey, they are reminded of the importance of hard work, dedication, and compassion in the nursing profession.

The College of Nursing Sciences ,Muslim Medical Foundation in Saki continues to prioritize excellence in education, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and compassion needed to make a meaningful difference in healthcare.
