Governor Adeleke has threatened to sue Osun APCβs media director Olabisi for N5bn over defamatory statements regarding a viral recording.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has threatened to sue Kolawole Olabisi, Media Director of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC), for N5 billion in damages over what he described as defamatory statements made against him.

The allegations center on a viral audio recording in which a purported member of the Peopleβs Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly threatens to bomb the state electoral commission and harm top officials.
Olabisi, in his statement, accused Governor Adeleke of complicity in the alleged threat and called for an investigation into leading PDP figures, including the governor, suggesting they were behind the recording.
In response, Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed, condemned the accusations as false, defamatory, and irresponsible. He demanded that Olabisi retract his statement or face legal action.
βThe allegation is reprehensible, baseless and defamatory. Mr Governor has ordered his lawyers to review the situation and demand retraction as the Governor did not and has not in any way planned or plot any attack on either INEC or any electoral official.β the statement read.
Governor Adeleke further warned that should the APC director fail to retract the accusations; he would face a libel suit with a demand for β¦5 billion in damages. βThis deliberate falsehood will have consequences,β the statement emphasised.
The governorβs camp also raised concerns about alleged threats made by Osun APC operatives, particularly referencing post-election boasts to violently rig the 2026 governorship election. The statement suggested that despite these threats, the PDP remains unshaken due to its popularity and strong electoral base in the state.
βAs a populist and performing leader, Governor Adeleke is however not bothered by those depressive rantings as the Osun PDP possesses electoral deterrence alongside being solidly on ground with the enhanced backing of the people of Osun Stateβ Rasheed added.
The statement concluded by reiterating Governor Adelekeβs peaceful reputation and underscored his intention to pursue legal redress over the accusations.
βFake news will not go without consequences,β the governorβs spokesperson warned.
