The Freedom University and Theological Seminary ,Posttown USA,Saki Chapter has honoured the Onibaasi of Baasi, Oba Sunday Azeez Babatunde Asunmo Modele with an honorary doctorate degree of peace and conflict management in recognition of his relentless efforts at fostering peaceful co existence among ethnic extractions in his domain and also to appreciate his unflinching support to the institution.
The Onibaasi, along with some other distinguished personalities were honoured during the 3rd convocation ceremony of the institution with the theme ‘Cashless Theology:the structures and future of theological education.’
In their goodwill messages at the occasion,the duo of Olokaka of Okaka His Majesty Oba Abdul azeez Olatunji Ayoola Ogelende the fourth Gbadewolu the first and the Alageere of Ofiki Oba Wasiu Iyiola Oyesiji in their chat with Kaseem Jenrade applauded the unwaivering commitment of Onibaasi of Baasi to the unity and sustainance of Yoruba tradition and custom, which fetched him the honourary doctorate award in peace and conflict management.
While describing him as a compassionate and very kind- hearted monarch,the Olokaka of Okaka and Alageere of Ofiki saluted his generosity and love for the downtrodden.
They urged him not to rest on his oars.
Oba Ayoola Ogelende also charged the management of the Freedom University to galvanize the opportunity in oke ogun area and make their degree programmes accessible to people of all creeds.
He also charged them not to be sentiment in their awards , rather,they should generalize it to other religious members for the progress of the institution.
In attendance at the epoch event, were the Registrar of the institution,Dr. Olu Ade Alade, Chairman of the occasion, Deacon Mathew Kolawole Ogunkunle and the Dean of Academics, Rev. Emmanuel Aremu among others.
They took turn to explained the vision and mission of the freedom university as citadel of learning of international repute, that focus on inculcating in her students excellent moral values as a means of reshaping their character and training them to be extra ordinary world influencer as leaders, teachers and ministers of God.
An Igboho born financial expert and politician, Mrs. Adeboyin Elizabeth Oladokun and the President, Oke Ogun Indigenous Youth Solidarity Forum, Comrade Ojedokun Jonathan Bukola also received honourary doctorate awards at the event.
In her comments,Dr Mrs Adeboyin who was conferred with Honourary Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Management, noted that leadership is an act of influencing others positively with a view to setting a good example for others saying example is better than precept.
She stressed that good leaders must be responsible and responsive to the needs and yearnings of their followers in order to change the narrative of the society.
Dr Adeboyin urged the people of the society to be of good conduct for the sake of posterity.
Baasi Community Chairman Prince Tajudeen Ashafa while speaking on behalf of Baasi indigenes home and abroad appreciated the institution for the honourary doctorate award accorded their monarch.
He admonished Oba Sunday Azeez Babatunde to live up to expectation to justify the confidence repose on him.
The epoch event that was graced by other traditional rulers in oke ogun also had in attendance the representatives of the Okere of Saki and Elero of Ilero and other eminent personalities from all walks of life.
