Ibadan Woman, 62, Murdered: 2 Suspects Arrested by Police

The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with a suspected murder at Ori-Apata Oderemi in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan.

The command public relations officer Mr olayinka Ayanlade in a statement made available to newsmen says the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for detailed investigation.

He explained that the two suspects, Muhammed Sanusi,42 years, and Ogbu James Ajah, 40 years, have been arrested and are currently in custody, assisting investigators, while efforts continue to track down other possible accomplices

The incident involved the discovery of the lifeless body of a 62-year-old woman along a bush path in the community.

According to the Police, the case was reported by a passerby who found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut to her neck.

Detectives who visited the scene revealed that the body had been there for about seven days before it was discovered. The remains have since been deposited at the Adeoyo General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The development initially sparked protests among family members and residents of the area. However, calm was restored following the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer in Ido, alongside the local government authorities, who appealed for peace and urged residents not to take the law into their hands.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, has visited the community and assured residents that justice will be served. The Command has also intensified patrols in the area to maintain law and order, urging members of the public to remain calm and provide useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
