Despite the Oyo State Government’s efforts to rehabilitate the Iseyin-Saki road, the project has been plagued by subpar workmanship, leaving commuters to endure a bumpy and hazardous ride.
Eyewitnesses and motorists who ply the route have expressed disappointment and frustration with the poor state of the road, particularly between Okaka and Ipapo. The road’s surface is littered with potholes and uneven patches, causing vehicles to jump and bounce, posing a significant risk to safety.

According to sources, the contractor handling the project, Messer Kopek, has done a shoddy job, raising concerns about the lack of proper monitoring and supervision by the Oyo State Works Ministry.
The state government’s decision to rehabilitate the road, a federal project, is commendable. However, the poor execution of the project may undermine the government’s efforts to improve the state’s infrastructure.
Residents and stakeholders have called on the state government to intervene and ensure that the project is completed to a satisfactory standard. They have also appealed to local government chairmen, commissioners, and other elected officials to take action and address the concerns of the community.
The Iseyin-Saki road rehabilitation project is expected to be reimbursed by the Federal Government, which means that the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) will not be involved in the project for the next two years. This makes it even more critical for the state government and local stakeholders to take ownership and ensure that the project is completed to a high standard.
As the situation stands, the poor state of the Iseyin-Saki road remains a source of concern for commuters, residents, and stakeholders. It is imperative that the Oyo State Government takes immediate action to address these concerns and ensure that the project is completed to a satisfactory standard.
