Janet Agbeke foundation offers free eye surgery for 40 persons in Ago-Are Community

In a remarkable display of corporate social responsibility, 40 persons in Ago-Are Community, ATISBO LGA of Oyo State have benefitted from free eye surgery conducted by Janet Agbeke foundation.

ITV Online Correspondent gathered that, the outreach ,which was a collaborative effort between the foundation and a team of volunteer ophthalmologists and other medical professionals took place at the General Hospital, Ago-Are,also served as a referral centre for patients.

Over the course of six days, the team conducted 40 free eye surgeries, transforming the lives of patients who had been struggling with vision impairment.

The patients, who were selected from various communities across the area,underwent thorough medical screenings for cataract before the surgeries and by extension, general consultations and medications also were performed for 2000 people.

Speaking on the development, the founder of the foundation, Dr. (Mrs) Olubukola Ojediran said the surgeries were all successful, expressed satisfaction that there were no complications arising from the exercise.

She maintained that, the gesture was part of the foundation’s commitment to assisting the less privileged,who could not afford access medicare , including the elderly and the young ones , to have access to quality healthcare to enable them maintain healthy lifestyle and well-being.

The foundation, known for medical mission, had been conducting similar exercise for the past few years and this year’s free medical surgical operation was part of the activities to mark the 10th memorial services of late Paa Sunday Akanbi Ayangbemi and Madam Janet Agbeke Ayangbemi .

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Akande Bosede, who had been living with eye diseases for many years,expressed gratitude to the foundation for the humanitarian services, noted that , the surgery has given her a new lease of life .

In a related development,Janet Agbeke foundation hosted an inspiring Evening of Praise with Senwele Jesu/Orun si Music Ministry and Thanksgiving service at the First Baptist Church, Ago-Are, bringing together hundreds of guests to mark the memorial service

The foundation’s efforts have been hailed as a significant step towards reducing the burden of eye diseases in area.
