Oyo state Police command has confirmed the abduction of four persons from the Cocoa Research Institute (CRIN), Ibadan.
The Police Public Relation Officer in the state, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the development to newsmen on Wednesday, March 18.
Ayanlade said the Police swift response team have successfully rescued one of the four persons abducted by suspected kidnappers, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims.
Police authorities confirmed that the rescued individual has been taken into safe custody, where he is currently undergoing debriefing as part of ongoing investigations into the incident.
He equally stated that the victim’s vehicle was also recovered by the operatives during the operation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to immediately reinforce officers at the Idi-Ayunre Divisional Police Headquarters.
The directive also involves the deployment of other tactical teams to support the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and personnel already on ground.
The security teams have since launched an intensive bush combing operation across surrounding areas in a bid to locate the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the remaining victims.
Police authorities assured that the operation will continue until all those responsible for the abduction are apprehended and the other victims rescued unharmed.
