NASE Abuja Chapter raises alarm over rising insecurity in Nigeria, urges vigilance in Saki and Oke-Ogun region

The National Association of Saki Elite (NASE), Abuja Chapter, has expressed deep concern over the prevailing security challenges affecting several parts of Nigeria, including the Oke-Ogun region of Oyo State.

In a press statement made available to this newspaper and signed by its President, Alhaji Kehinde Mustapha, NASE commended the Oyo State Government for issuing an intelligence advisory warning of a suspected bandit fleeing from Niger State and sighted within the Saki axis.

“We acknowledge the recent intelligence advisory issued by the Office of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, alerting relevant security formations to the activities and movement of a suspected bandit reportedly fleeing from Niger State and sighted within the Saki axis,” the statement read.

The association also appreciated the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local intelligence outfits, and other security stakeholders for their tireless work in maintaining law and order.

However, NASE expressed concern over the growing sophistication and boldness of criminal networks operating across states, and called on residents, traditional rulers, youth groups, market associations, and community-based organisations to heighten vigilance during this period.

“We call on residents, traditional rulers, youth groups, market associations, and community-based organisations to heighten vigilance during this period. Security is a collective responsibility, and the actions of just one vigilant citizen can prevent a tragedy,” the statement emphasized.

The association also appealed to the Oyo State Government and relevant security agencies to release the photograph and identifying details of the suspect mentioned in the intelligence memo to enhance community readiness and support security operations.

NASE Abuja Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with government authorities, security services, and community structures to strengthen peace and security across Saki and the entire Oke-Ogun region.

The association urged all citizens to remain calm but alert, continue their lawful activities, and refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause panic.

“Together, through unity, vigilance, and cooperation, we can protect our communities and ensure that Saki remains a safe and thriving homeland for all,” the statement concluded.
