NAYEI Foundation hosts Essay, Quiz Competition in Saki, recognizes excellence

The Nurudeen Adewale Youth Empowerment Initiative (NAYEI Foundation), a Non-Governmental Organization, has hosted the second edition of its Essay and Quiz Competition in Saki, Oyo State.

The event took place at Saki City Hall on Saturday, 13 December 2025, and featured awards presentations, cash prizes, capacity-building sessions, a leadership summit, and lectures.

In his address , the Chairman of the Nurudeen Adewale Youth Empowerment Initiative (NAYEI) Foundation, Nurudeen Adewale, said the foundation’s goal is to uplift the people of Saki and promote community development.

“We honour those who uplift others, strengthen the community, and embody values that transcend personal ambition, to all awardees, I extend profound respect. May this honour serve not as a destination, but as a renewed calling to further service.”,he noted.

Adewale also emphasized the foundation’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that the organization has never received or sought financial contributions from individuals, organizations, or institutions.

“Every bursary awarded, every program executed, every initiative undertaken has been funded solely from our personal resources,this is not a boast. It is a testament to the sincerity of our mission.”,Adewale said.

Adewale urged the people of Saki to work together to build a brighter future for the community, saying, “Let us build together, let us empower one another, let us stop waiting for government intervention that may never come.”

The event, which was attended by dignitaries, scholars, and members of the academic community, recognized individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Saki.


Speaking at the event, Alh. Busari Mudashir praised the founder of the NAYEI Foundation for giving back to society through educational programs. He noted that the awardees were recognized for their selfless service to humanity, not for political reasons. Mudashir said the initiative honors the late Alh. Lateef Giwa, a respected politician, business leader, and community figure, describing him as a legend with outstanding contributions to Saki.

He urged the students and scholarship beneficiaries to use the opportunity wisely to ease their parents’ burdens. He advised them to avoid waywardness, immoral behavior, and lack of virtue. He encouraged the participants to see their current challenges as surmountable and not as barriers to achieving their future goals.

The resource person, Professor Lukman Alawiye, delivered a thought-provoking lecture, urging students to stay updated with modern technology. He encouraged the youth to participate in community development, emphasizing that they are key drivers of progress. Alawiye advised the youths to focus on education, literacy programs, environmental sanitation, health advocacy, and similar initiatives, saying they shouldn’t be derailed from these pursuits.

In his remarks, Dr. AbdKabir Olanese attributed students’ performance to factors like parental background, some students’ lack of seriousness, government support, teachers’ efforts, and more.

Attendees at the event included Iyabo Giwa, Alh. Suleiman Arowoselu, Col. Ggenga Adegola (RTD), Alh. Waheed Adeshina, Aderogba Muhideen, Kehinde Adetola, and Hon. Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo.
