Okere hosts Okeogun Traditional Rulers Meeting, Focus on Unity and Development

Aseyin of Iseyin Takes Over as Okeogun Council Chairman

Okeogun traditional rulers have emphasized the need for unity, inclusiveness, and loyalty, stressing the importance of working with the government to drive development and economic growth in the region.

A closed-door meeting of traditional rulers,which was held at the Okere of Sakiland’s palace on January 29, 2026, focusing on boosting the area’s efficiency and reliability and also deliberated on promoting unity, inclusiveness, and cooperation to drive development and economic growth in the region.

A key highlight of the meeting was the change of baton, with the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola, taking over as Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers of Okeogun area for a 2-year term, succeeding Oba Khalid Olabisi.

The Aare of Ago-Are, who spoke on the development, noted that Oba Oyebola was unanimously endorsed by monarchs across Oke Ogun, citing his experience, wisdom, and commitment to community development.

Oba Oyebola expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him and pledged to work closely with all traditional rulers to advance the collective interest of Oke Ogun. He assured an open-door leadership style and vowed to strengthen the voice of Oke Ogun traditional rulers at state and federal levels.

The outgoing Chairman, Oba Khalid Olabisi, emphasized the importance of their civic roles in resolving conflicts and fostering grassroots development, calling for continued cooperation and support for the new leadership.

The traditional rulers also commended Governor Makinde’s leadership and wished Oyo State a happy Golden Jubilee milestone.
