In a strategic move aimed at transforming Sakiland into a powerhouse of agricultural productivity, His Imperial Majesty, the Okere of Sakiland, Oba Dr. Surv. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has formally cemented a partnership with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
The collaboration, which was officially inaugurated at the Palace on Sunday, marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s agricultural intervention program. To kickstart the initiative, the monarch has facilitated the provision of a massive 3,000 hectares of land dedicated strictly to farming projects within the kingdom.
The NALDA delegation, led by Engr. Owolabi Matthew and facilitated by Engr. Idris Biliaminu Olasunkanmi, assured the monarch and the people of Saki that the agency is ready to hit the ground running.
In a bid to encourage local participation, NALDA announced it would provide free land to indigenes and residents prepared to venture into professional agriculture. The project is designed to:Generate thousands of jobs: Both direct and indirect opportunities for the teeming youth population.
While expressing his full support for the federal agency, the Okere was clear about the stewardship of the community’s ancestral assets. His Imperial Majesty issued a stern reminder that the land is an investment in the future of his people.
”This land is provided strictly for developmental purposes,” the Okere emphasized. He further warned that the kingdom reserves the right to revoke the allocation should the land remain underutilized or be diverted from its intended agricultural goals.
”Our farmers need protection from sudden price drops,” the monarch stated during the briefing. “The Federal Government must ensure there are stable markets and fair prices so that our farmers can truly benefit from their hard work.”
As Saki prepares for this agricultural revolution, residents remain optimistic that the partnership will bring the much-needed economic “New Dawn” promised by the throne.
