The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Dr. Sur Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has indefinitely suspended two of his chiefs, Chief Kilani Azeez O. (Baale Ilua of Saki) and Chief Timothy Oyesiji (Baale Kelli-Ile of Saki), effective immediately.
According to a press statement, the suspension follows allegations of insubordination, involvement in illegal mining activities, and disregard for law and order. The Okere emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated, stating:
“As the traditional ruler, I cannot tolerate such behavior from any of my subjects, particularly those entrusted with traditional leadership roles.”
The monarch warned other chiefs against engaging in similar misconduct, cautioning:
“I warn other chiefs against engaging in similar misconduct, including involvement in illegal activities or oppression of individuals. Their actions will be closely monitored, and any further infractions will attract severe consequences.”
The public has been advised to exercise caution when interacting with the suspended chiefs, as they are no longer recognized as representatives of the Okere’s palace. The suspension remains in effect until further notice.
