The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has called on the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to establish an office in Saki.
According to a statement, the monarch made the request during a meeting with Comptroller IU Nwosu, the helmsperson of the NIS Oyo State Command. The Okere said, “I highlighted the significance of Saki being an agrarian society, relying heavily on foreign labor for our farmlands. Consequently, I respectfully urged the Immigration Service to consider establishing an office in our environment to facilitate the registration process for these immigrants.”
He further requested that the Service formulate friendly policies to ease passport acquisition for foreign nationals, stating, “I requested that the Service formulate friendly policies to ease passport acquisition for these individuals.”
The Okere assured Comptroller Nwosu that the community would provide free land for the construction of an Immigration/Passport office, saying, “I assured them that we would provide free land to build the office like we did for other security agencies.”
The monarch emphasized the need to create a welcoming environment for non-Nigerians residing in Saki, adding, “My intention is to create a welcoming environment for non-Nigerians residing in our community.”
