•••Calls for ATISBO’s Turn in Oyo PDP Power Rotation

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Ayobami Babatunde Ojo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Saki East, Saki West and ATISBO Federal Constituency, urging party stakeholders to support what he described as ATISBO Local Government’s rightful turn to produce the next lawmaker.

Ojo, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly who represented ATISBO/Saki East State Constituency, made his declaration during PDP consultative meetings held in Saki East and ATISBO LGAS areas on Friday and Saturday. The meetings were attended by party leaders and ward executives.

Addressing stakeholders, the legal practitioner hinged his ambition on what he called a proven record of service and loyalty to the party. He highlighted his previous roles in public service, including serving as a local government secretary, Supervisory Councillor for Works, and state lawmaker, noting that these positions had prepared him for higher responsibility.

“I have been tested and trusted over the years,” Ojo said. “My experience in governance and my commitment to the PDP have equipped me with the capacity to represent our people effectively at the federal level.”

He also emphasized his longstanding contributions to party development across the three local government areas, particularly during local government elections, describing himself as a consistent grassroots mobilizer who has never lost an election.

Ojo further pledged inclusive representation if elected, assuring women, youths, and other interest groups of fair participation in governance. He promised equitable distribution of resources and stressed his commitment to religious tolerance, describing himself as a detribalized Nigerian.

Highlighting his achievements as a former lawmaker, Ojo listed constituency projects such as the provision of boreholes, construction of classroom blocks, installation of transformers, and poverty alleviation initiatives as evidence of his capacity to deliver.

Central to his appeal was a call for zoning equity within the constituency. He urged party leaders in Saki East and Saki West to support ATISBO LGA in producing the next House of Representatives member, arguing that the area had been politically marginalized over time.

“It is only fair and just that ATISBO is given the opportunity this time,” he stated.

Party members at the meetings reportedly endorsed Ojo’s aspiration, describing him as a dedicated and capable leader with the charisma and experience needed to represent the constituency at the national level.
