The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State’s Oyo North Senatorial District Chapter held a high-level strategic meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Abeje Hall, Saki, Saki LG. The meeting aimed to put the party’s house in order ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting saw an impressive turnout of distinguished members, including former Deputy Governors, serving Members of the House of Representatives, former State party chairmen, former Commissioners, former Local Government Chairmen, Local Government Party Chairmen, State and Local Government Party Officials, Women and Youth Leaders.
In his remarks, a former Deputy Governor, Barr. Iyiola Oladokun, commended the gathering’s impressive turnout and urged members to tolerate one another in the party’s overall interest. He reiterated the stakeholders’ collective dedication to the party’s unity, strength, and progress.
“The 2027 election should be about a referendum for all APC candidates,we should pursue our ambitions with maturity and decorum, free from rancour or divisiveness because power belongs to God.”, he said.
The meeting unanimously reaffirmed its unwavering support for APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing his bid for a second term. The stakeholders commended his visionary leadership, bold reforms, and commitment to national transformation.
Some leaders at the event,called for a power shift to the Oyo North senatorial district in future political considerations within the state, citing the district’s consistent loyalty and contributions to the party’s success.
Oyo North Senatorial Chairman, Tunde Oloyede, emphasized the importance of unity and cohesion for the party’s success, urging members to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal.
Chief Akin Oke, former APC state chairman, laments party’s prolonged stay in opposition, urges members to work towards reclaiming government house in 2027.He emphasized that forgiveness and unity among party leaders are key to overcoming internal challenges and achieving victory in 2027.
“APC has been in opposition for 8 years, it’s time to take over the mantle of leadership and returning the party to the government house in Oyo State is sacrosanct,” he stressed.
The meeting emphasized the need for party unity, strengthening grassroots structures, and mobilization efforts toward the forthcoming 2027 elections. Party leaders were urged to support this just aspiration in the interest of unity and inclusive governance.
Speaking on the development,Rep. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun lauds party members’ resilience, assures them of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda success. the lawmaker, representing Saki East, Saki West, and ATISBO federal constituency, expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the next election. He reaffirmed his commitment to representing Oke-Ogun’s interests at the national level and urged party leaders to work together for a cohesive and effective party structure. “Working together, we can achieve victory in 2027,” he said.
Hon. Mohammed Lateef Olaide stresses unity and collective action are crucial for APC’s success, commending party elders’ efforts. “Only a united front can guarantee victory in future elections,” he says.
On his part,Senator Abdfatai Buhari urges party faithful to remain steadfast amid Electoral Reforms to give room for the settlement of all potential litigations arising from the general elections.
Buhari advises party leaders to form committee on Power Shift to validate sincerity.
The meeting concluded with a strong sense of unity, shared responsibility, and renewed commitment to the growth and electoral success of the APC in Oyo State and across Nigeria. Party leaders and members were enjoined to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts for both APC membership registration and continuous voter registration in preparation for upcoming elections.
Other prominent figures in attendance included Engr. Remi Olaniyan, Chief Alake Adeyemo, Madam Hannah Ogunesan, Col. Gbenga Adegbola, among others.
