The Oyo State Government, through the Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, has engaged miners operating across the state to strengthen collaboration and encourage responsible mining practices.
Speaking during the meeting, the Director-General of the agency, Abiodun Oni, said security concerns surrounding mining activities have elevated the sector on the state government’s agenda.
He stressed the importance of stronger cooperation among stakeholders to ensure a safe, orderly, and sustainable mining environment across Oyo State.
Oni emphasised that synergy between miners, community leaders, and relevant government agencies is crucial to maintaining peace and order within mining communities.
He further highlighted that the clear understanding and respect for defined roles and responsibilities would contribute to a more sustainable and productive mining sector.
