Oyo NSCDC Celebrates Peace Champions: Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle,7 Others Honored with Awards

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),Oyo State Command, has honored Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Executive Director of Commercial and Environmental Development at the South West Development Commission, with the prestigious Peace Keepers Award. This recognition was conferred upon him during the International Peace Day Celebration organized by the Seriki Shasha, Alhaji, Maiyasin Katsina on behalf of the NSCDC’s Oyo State Command

Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle is a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, serving as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. He has held various notable positions, including. He served as Special Adviser on Political Matters and Parastatals to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State.

In his address, Commandant Augustine Padonu, the Commandant in charge of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), praised Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle and other award recipients for their significant contributions to promoting peace and stability in the country. He emphasized that their recognition as peacekeepers is not only a testament to their past efforts but also a call to action for continued service in maintaining peace and tranquility in Nigeria.

Commandant Augustine Padonu highlighted the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ (NSCDC) pivotal role in maintaining peace, protecting national assets, and ensuring stability across the country. As a paramilitary agency, the NSCDC works tirelessly to maintain peace and order.

All speakers at the event shared a unified message, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence among individuals from diverse backgrounds. They encouraged people to put aside their differences and live in harmony, regardless of their socioeconomic status, tribal affiliations, Religious beliefs and political affiliations

The award recipients include the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu,
Hon. Babatunde Sunday Ogunlade and Hon. Alawode Emmanuel. Others are Hon Lanre Olaosegba, Prince John Adeleke and Chief (Mrs) Francisca Padonu and
Hon. Dahunsi Adegbenro.

Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, represented by Dr. Gafar Amoo at the event, is a prominent Nigerian politician and a respected chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. Born in Lanlate, Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alhaji Ibikunle has made significant contributions to Nigerian politics.

He attended Lagos State University (LASU), University of Ibadan (UI) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) during his academic pursuit.

He has held various notable positions In Oyo State and in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Among which are:

i) Personal Assistant to Former Governor of Oyo State, Alh. Lam Onaolapo Adesina.

ii) Special Adviser on Political Matters to Former Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State

iii) Special Adviser on Parastarals to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi during his second term in office.

iv) Chairman, National Lottery Regulatory Commission under President Muhammadu Buhari.

v) Former Board Member, Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

vi) And recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Executive Director of Commercial and Environmental Development,
South West Development Commission (SWDC).

21st of September every year is set aside globally as ‘International Peace Day’ to mark the importance of peaceful co- existence in the Societies.
