PDP Saki East LGA Harmonization Meeting Deadlocks Again

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Saki East Local Government harmonization meeting has deadlocked for the third time over the rotation of the party’s chairmanship position.

Stakeholders from various wards and communities attended the meeting, but failed to reach a consensus on the zoning of the position. Different communities presented their cases, with Oje-Owode wards nominating Alhaji Hon. Najeem Adenrele Abdullah.

“We believe that a Party Chairman from Oje-Owode is in the best position to bring the entire tendencies in the Party into one BIG UMBRELLA, which is a prerequisite for a formidable party structure that can offer victory to the party in the forthcoming elections, considering the fact only Oje-Owode has hamonised ward congresses while other four communities presented parallel lists,” a statement made by PDP stakeholders comprising all tendencies from Oje-Owode who all staged a walkout when they saw that Hon. Tajudeen Badmus from Agbonle who was nominated by the State Party Secretariat as the harmonization congress committee arrow head was trying to manipulate the process that will make himself emerge as the local government party chairman.

However, other communities also staked their claims. Sepeteri wards demanded the position be zoned to their community, while Agbonle ward argued for the position despite having produced the party’s local government chairman three times as well as currently holding the position of the PDP Senatorial Youth Leader and the only State Board Member from the Local Government which is Hon. Tajudeen Badmus.

The meeting suggested reconvening or holding a proper local government party primary to resolve the impasse.

“We failed to reach a consensus on this and it was suggested that we reconvene the meeting to give room for various community representatives to consult their various communities,” A statement made by a stakeholder who was in attendance added.

ITV reliably gathered that all stakeholders from all other tendencies from the five communities in the local government followed the steps of Oje-Owode representatives by staging a walkout.
