The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saki West Local Government, Oyo State, has issued a statement addressing recent defections by some members, reassuring loyal party members of its commitment to the party’s ideals and community development.
In a letter signed by Hon Adekunle Tunji Rafiu, the party acknowledged the right of members to choose their political affiliations, wishing those who have left well in their future endeavors. “We respect their right to choose their political affiliations and wish them well in their future endeavors,” the statement read.
Highlighting significant achievements under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership in Oyo State, the PDP cited economic growth from ₦2.75 trillion to ₦4.05 trillion, with over ₦35 billion in private investments. Speaking on the governor’s accomplishments, Hon Rafiu noted, “Governor Seyi Makinde has achieved significant milestones in Oyo State, providing a strong foundation for our community’s progress.”
Notable accomplishments in Saki West Local Government under PDP leadership included road construction improving connectivity, water projects enhancing community health, youth empowerment initiatives, and women’s development programs. “We have made notable progress under the PDP leadership, including completion of key roads connecting major towns and villages, improving access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities,” the statement said.
Addressing broader political realities, the party remarked, “No political party in Nigeria is without its challenges and imperfections. Every party has its own set of issues, misunderstandings, and disagreements.” Hon Rafiu urged members to stay focused on the party’s vision, stating, “Let us not forget that the grass is not always greener on the other side, and every party has its own set of problems.”
The PDP expressed appreciation for members’ loyalty, concluding with a call to continue working towards community progress. “We urge our members to remain focused on our party’s vision and mission and to continue working towards the progress and prosperity of our community,” the statement emphasized.
