Political Upset: Makinde’s Ally, Omirinde defects to APC,cites Tinubu’s developmental strides

Alh. Najeem Omirinde, a key associate of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and ex-Chairman of OYRUWASAA, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

He made the switch on October 3, during the APC General Meeting at Isale Taba, Saki, Oyo State, citing President Bola Tinubu’s developmental strides and inclusive governance as reasons for his decision.

Speqking with ITV ONLINE ,he disclosed why defected alongside some of his supporters.

Revealing why he dumped the PDP for APC, Omirinde opined that his decision was motivated by the incumbent president Bola Tinubu’s impressive developmental achievements, giant strides and inclusive governance style in Oyo State and Okeogun area in particular.

Alhaji Tajudeen Okunlola, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saki West LGA, warmly welcomed Alhaji Najeem Omirinde, expressing gratitude for his decision to join the party. Okunlola assured Omirinde of a level playing field within the party, fostering an inclusive environment for his new member.

Omirinde added that after extensive consultations with elders and stakeholders, they resolved to end years of political fragmentation in Oyo State and fully embrace the ruling party at the centre .

He noted that he has never joined a losing train.
