Power play :Saki West LG Chair Sacks Secretary, Kolade, Cites Anti-Party Allegations and Push for Accountability

The Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Akinola, has approved the immediate removal of the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kolade Felix Ojo, from his position. The announcement, contained in an official statement signed by the Chairman on Wednesday, marks a significant administrative shake-up in the council’s leadership.

According to the statement, the decision forms part of ongoing efforts to reposition the local government for greater efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery to residents of Saki West. However, sources within the council disclosed that Hon. Ojo’s removal was also tied to allegations of anti-party activities. He was accused of attending the governorship flag-off of Accord Party in Ibadan, despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move that reportedly created tension within the local political structure.

Hon. Akinola expressed appreciation for the contributions of the outgoing Secretary, acknowledging his service to the council and wishing him success in his future endeavors. “This decision is in line with our commitment to strengthening governance and ensuring that the machinery of local administration works effectively for the benefit of our people,” the Chairman noted. He added that further directives regarding the administration of the local government will be communicated in due course, signaling possible additional changes in the council’s structure.

The removal of Hon. Kolade Felix Ojo comes at a time when stakeholders in Saki West have been calling for more transparency and responsiveness from local authorities, especially in areas of infrastructure, healthcare, and community development. Analysts say the move could be a strategic step by the Chairman to inject fresh energy into the administration and align it with his development agenda, while also sending a strong message against political disloyalty.

Residents and political observers are now keenly watching to see who will be appointed as the new Secretary and how the leadership adjustment will impact governance at the grassroots level.
