Professor Petitions GTBank Over Alleged ₦9.98m Unauthorized Transfers

A university professor in Oyo State has petitioned Guaranty Trust Bank over the alleged unauthorized withdrawal of ₦9.98 million from his bank account, demanding an immediate investigation and refund of the funds.

The professor, a lecturer at Kola Daisi University, through his solicitors, submitted a formal complaint to the bank’s branch manager, stating that the transactions were carried out without his knowledge or consent.

According to the petition dated February 21, 2026, the withdrawals were executed within minutes, raising serious concerns about the security of the account.

Transaction records attached to the complaint showed that the first transfer of ₦4,990,000 occurred at about 10:19 a.m., and the money was sent to an account belonging to Isah Ahmed Ahmed through the payment platform Paga.

Another transfer of ₦4,990,000 was reportedly processed at about 10:21 a.m. to a different beneficiary identified as Nasir Nasir Sanusi, also linked to an account on the same payment platform.

However, the professor insisted that he did not authorise the transfers and had no prior knowledge that the transactions were carried out from his account.

His lawyers emphasized that their client did not disclose his Personal Identification Number (PIN), token, or any other confidential banking information that could have enabled unauthorized access to the account.

They further argued that the bank has a responsibility to protect customers’ funds and ensure that adequate safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized transactions.

In the petition, the professor demanded the immediate reversal of the ₦9.98 million allegedly withdrawn from his account.

The legal representatives warned that if the bank fails to refund the money within seven days of receiving the complaint, their client would be compelled to pursue legal action against the financial institution.

They also called on the bank to urgently probe the incident and ensure that the funds are restored without delay.
