Saki CAN Chairman Urges Peaceful Coexistence
In a bid to prevent potential religious tensions, Muslim and Christian bodies in Saki, Oyo State, have called for peace and calm following a controversy surrounding a mosque under construction. The controversy sparked concerns about possible unrest, but community leaders have stepped in to mediate.

The Christian community in Saki has emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, citing the Bible’s teachings on love and harmony. Also, the Okere of Saki and other community leaders have also played a key role in mediating the situation.
The Muslim and Christian bodies in Saki have urged their members to remain calm and focus on peaceful resolution. The community’s emphasis on dialogue and mutual respect has been instrumental in preventing potential conflicts.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Saki, Revd. Adeoye Sunday Silas, reiterated that Christianity is a religion of peace, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims.
On his parts, the Chairman of the Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs, emphasizes the importance of harmonious coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Saki, Oyo State, saying peaceful coexistence is rooted in the teachings of both Christianity and Islam, which promote love, kindness and understanding.
He explained that , the meeting between the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Saki chapter and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Saki branch, aimed to foster peace and harmony between the two religious groups. The convergence also served as a platform for introducing the new CAN Chairman to the new NSCIA Chairman, promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
