As part of efforts to build capacity and enhance the nursing profession, the college of nursing sciences in Saki West LGA of Oyo State, has hosted her Matriculation and capping ceremony for set 2023 Nursing and set 2023 B Midwifery students of the institution.
The event, which took place at the College of Nursing Science, Muslim medical foundation, marks a formal commitment to demonstrating and respecting the college’s moral principles, integrity, excellence, and service and the matriculants were jubilant as they took the matriculation oath to get formally inducted.
Speaking on the development, the Provost of the institution, Alhaja Sanni Gbadamosi expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the newly matriculating students for embarking on such a transformative journey, urged them to strive for perfection in their chosen fields because of the delicate nature of the profession while embodying them to be good ambassadors of the college.
“Today marks a significant milestone in your academic journey ,having scaled through the first session,74 students were initially admitted for the Basic Midwifery program,today 56 are matriculants while 75 students were admitted for the Basic Nursing Program.
As you begin a new chapter, I urge you not to relent in your efforts, and to always remember that Nursing is not just a profession, but a calling that requires dedication,compassion,commitment to excellence. You need to be focused and prayerful”, she said .
Speaking further, she described the college as a citadel of academic excellence and all round formation of minds , said the college is on the path of becoming a world class with various mechanisms already in place to achieve the feat.
The guest speaker, Shafiu Ademola Adewole popularly as known “Imam Shafil“, explained on the strategies for revitalising nurses spiritual well being including Mindfulness, medication, reflective journaling ,peers support group and spiritual leadership , advised them to get a tyre and not to be tired.
Presentating the enrolled students for acceptance, the Registrar, stated that the diversity of the new intakes is imperative, as they came from far and near .
On her part, the Chairperson of the ceremony, Alhaja Fasilat Khalid Olabisi reminded the gathering of the significance of the nursing services and charged the matriculants to stick to the ethics of the profession at all times and not to be keyed into material things to attain excellence in their chosen fields.
A former board member, Dr. Issa Ismail, thrilled with the success story recorded at the Muslim Foundation, expressed optimism that the college would soon become a University .
A cross-section of the students during interviews, expressed excitement as the event marked a new dawn of their journey to pursue their dreams as they remarked that the environment of the college appears promising.
The event was attended by traditional chiefs , community leaders ,religious leaders ,members of the governing board and other critical stakeholders.
