Former Deputy Governor of Oyo state Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan has called on citizens of Oyo state to seize the opportunity provided by the ongoing continuous Voters Registration exercise to register for participation in future elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC have commenced online and physical voters registration exercise across the Country since Monday, the 15th of August, 2025.
In a release made available to newsmen on Tuesday, Engr. Olaniyan described the present exercise as a welcome development and an opportunity for potential voters who have either not registered before due to age or those whose voter cards are lost or defaced to perfect their registration exercise.
He decried the current trend of voters apathy during elections.
According to him, it is disturbing to see that the turn out of voters have kept reducing.
“Statistics have shown that a lesser percentage of the populace are the ones electing political leaders of recent”.
” No matter how discouraged we are, we have to keep hope alive and participate in the processes of selecting those who would lead us “.
” When the majority participate in the election process, the likelihood of electing the leaders we desire increased “. He said.
He concluded by calling on eligible voters to troop out and obtain their voters cards as that would enable them to participate in the processes of selecting future Leaders.
