A group of concerned youths from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government have issued a call to action and urging Alhaji Hamed Adegoke, President of Ifelodun Omo Igboho, to uphold the group’s constitutional duties.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Mr. Abraham Balogun as obtained by ITV Online on Sunday, May 26, the youths expressed disappointment and concern over Adegoke’s recent actions, which they claim breach the group’s constitution. Specifically, they cited his involvement in matters related to politics, land disputes, and obaship tussles, which are explicitly restricted by the group’s constitution.

The youths also raised pertinent questions about Adegoke’s motives, asking whether his actions stem from ignorance, negligence, or abuse of power. They cited a letter written by the Immediate Past Alaafin of Oyo, which stated that “Alepata is not a paramount ruler according to the history of Igboho,” questioning Adegoke’s understanding of the group’s role.

The statement concluded by appreciating the Oyo State House of Assembly and the state’s Governor for their efforts to promote peace and co-existence in the community.
