Stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in ATISBO Local Government Area of Oyo State have declared their support for the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde and endorsed Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders made their position known in a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting of the ATISBO Local Government APM Stakeholders’ Forum, held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Local Government Hall, Tede.
The meeting, which commenced at 4:00 p.m., was attended by party leaders, elders, former political office holders, youth and women leaders, as well as other critical stakeholders drawn from the 10 wards of the local government.
The forum was presided over by the former Chairman of the Oyo State Culture and Tourism Board, Hon. Debo Adejumobi Adebowale, alongside other prominent political leaders in the council area.
In the communiqué, the stakeholders declared their “total, unshakeable and unwavering support” for Makinde’s presidential ambition, expressing the belief that his experience in governance and achievements in Oyo State had positioned him for the proposed national assignment.
They maintained that the governor possessed the vision and leadership experience required to steer the affairs of the country, pledging to mobilise support for his aspiration across Atisbo, Oke-Ogun and other parts of Oyo State.
The communiqué read in part: “We believe that after his outstanding performance in Oyo State, Governor Makinde has the capacity, experience, courage and vision to lead Nigeria to greater heights. We therefore endorse him as our sole presidential candidate and pledge to mobilise massively across Atisbo, Oke-Ogun and Oyo State to ensure his success.”
The stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence in Makinde’s administration under the Omituntun 2.0 agenda, commending what they described as its interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agribusiness, security and workers’ welfare.
They further expressed their commitment to the governor’s policies and programmes, insisting that the developmental trajectory of the state should be sustained beyond the expiration of his tenure.
In a related development, the forum declared its support for Adekanmbi as Makinde’s preferred successor in the 2027 governorship election, describing him as a political figure familiar with the administration’s policy direction and governance philosophy.
According to the communiqué, Adekanmbi had been groomed within the Omituntun political structure and was considered capable of sustaining and consolidating the administration’s achievements.
The stakeholders stated: “We believe that Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi has been groomed under the Omituntun leadership, understands the vision of good governance, and has the capacity to sustain and consolidate the legacies of Governor Makinde in Oyo State.”
They consequently pledged to work towards his emergence in the 2027 governorship election, arguing that continuity, political stability and sustained development informed their position.
On party cohesion, the forum called on members to remain united, disciplined and loyal under Makinde’s leadership and the APM platform, while condemning alleged anti-party activities and factional tendencies capable of undermining the party’s organisational strength.
It also resolved to commence immediate grassroots mobilisation, sensitisation and registration of supporters across the 10 wards of Atisbo in support of the governor’s presidential aspiration and Adekanmbi’s governorship ambition.
However, the stakeholders appealed to Makinde to ensure that Atisbo Local Government received adequate attention and inclusive representation in the governance structure of the state.
They particularly drew attention to what they described as a political vacuum arising from the absence of elected candidates from the local government in the last local government election, urging the governor to address the situation in the interest of strengthening the party at the grassroots.
The meeting ended on a note of solidarity, with participants reaffirming their commitment to the political direction adopted by the forum.
Prominent stakeholders at the meeting included Elder Debo Adejumobi, Hon. Ademola Adejumobi, Alhaji Fatai Ojerisi, Iyafin Nike Arewa, Alhaji Malik Amusat and Hon. Sola Ogundiya, among other party leaders and political stakeholders.
The communiqué, dated November 4, 2026, was signed by Adebowale on behalf of the Atisbo Local Government Stakeholders’ Forum.
The stakeholders concluded with the declaration: “One Voice, One Vision, One Leader- GSM for President, Bimbo Adekanmbi for Governor 2027!”
