Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has convened a strategic engagement with the party’s governorship candidates across the South-West geopolitical zone.
The meeting brought together the APM governorship candidates for Oyo, Lagos and Ogun states, including Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, Prince Laja Adeoye and TPL Rotimi Babajide, alongside the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State.
The high-level political consultation was centred on strengthening the party’s organisational architecture, deepening inter-state collaboration and evolving a coherent electoral strategy capable of expanding the APM’s influence across the South-West ahead of the 2027 polls.
The gathering also provided a platform for the candidates to deliberate on grassroots mobilisation, party cohesion and the need for sustained engagement with stakeholders across the region.
Makinde, who is expected to play a pivotal role in coordinating the party’s presidential campaign, reportedly underscored the imperative of unity, disciplined political organisation and a well-articulated message capable of resonating with voters across the geopolitical zone.
The meeting is seen as part of the APM’s broader preparations to establish a formidable political structure ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2027 electoral cycle.
The convergence of the party’s South-West governorship candidates further signals an emerging effort to consolidate the APM’s presence in the region while aligning its state-level campaigns with the party’s wider presidential agenda.
