Education first, APM candidate disburses 700 scholarships to students in Saki

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Saki West State Constituency in the 2027 Oyo State House of Assembly election, Hon. Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo, popularly known as SKA, has extended his educational empowerment initiative to another 700 students through the provision of three-year full scholarships.

The scholarship intervention, which covers tuition fees at Ajetunmobi College of Education, Kwara State, is part of SKA’s sustained investment in human capital development and his determination to make quality education accessible to students irrespective of their socioeconomic backgrounds.

The presentation ceremony, held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Primrose Schools and College, Saki, attracted political stakeholders, education advocates, and students

Among the dignitaries at the event were the Leader of the Saki West Legislative Arm, Hon. Salaudeen Soliu Abiodun; the APM Chairman in Saki West, Hon. Idris Aloma; and Surv. Prince Badmus Yinusa Adepoju (PhD), alongside other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, SKA reaffirmed his commitment to educational advancement, declaring that poverty should never constitute an insurmountable obstacle to the academic aspirations of any child.

He said his ambition was to rekindle the free education philosophy associated with the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, stressing that access to education should not be the exclusive preserve of children from affluent homes.

According to him, every deserving child, irrespective of family background or financial circumstances, deserves an equitable opportunity to acquire education and realise his or her potential.

The APM candidate also dismissed insinuations that his scholarship interventions were driven by political considerations, explaining that his commitment to educational development predated his involvement in partisan politics by approximately a decade.

He maintained that education remained one of the most potent instruments for social mobility, poverty reduction and sustainable community development, adding that his intervention was motivated by a personal conviction to contribute meaningfully to the future of younger generations.

In his remarks, Barrister Kunle Adepoju, Team Lead of the scholarship administration, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the intellectual capital and future leadership of Saki and neighbouring communities.

He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture through academic excellence, discipline, integrity and responsible conduct, noting that the scholarship represented considerably more than a mere financial intervention.

According to him, the programme was designed to nurture a generation of competent professionals, responsible citizens and community builders capable of contributing positively to societal advancement.

Also speaking, the Leader of the Saki West Legislative Arm, Hon. Salaudeen Soliu Abiodun, clarified that the scholarship scheme was devoid of political discrimination, insisting that beneficiaries were neither required to belong to nor identify with any political party to enjoy the opportunity.

He commended SKA for prioritising education and demonstrating a practical commitment to the intellectual development of young people, irrespective of their political persuasions.

Similarly, the APM Chairman in Saki West, Hon. Idris Aloma, urged residents to reciprocate what he described as SKA’s remarkable generosity and sustained investment in the educational advancement of the constituency by supporting his aspiration to represent Saki West at the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2027.

Some student representatives who spoke at the occasion expressed profound appreciation for the intervention, acknowledging SKA’s longstanding contributions to educational development. One of the beneficiaries disclosed that he had previously enjoyed the scholarship scheme.

The students and their parents also offered prayers for the sponsor, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and pledging to justify the investment through diligence, academic excellence and responsible use of the educational support.

They equally expressed solidarity with SKA and the APM candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
