After Tragedy, Oriyomi Hamzat Stands with Victims of Oke-Ogun Attack, visits Saki

Promises improved security through inclusive governance in Oyo State

The gubernatorial aspirant of the ACCORD party, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has visited one of the victims injured during a recent kidnapping attack in Ago-Are, which occurred on Friday, April 24, 2026.

The incident happened last week when kidnappers attempted to abduct Alhaji Hamzat Oladokun. Fortunately, he escaped, although he and others were shot, leaving several people injured.

During his visit to the Baptist Medical Centre in Saki, where Oladokun is receiving treatment, Oriyomi expressed relief that the victim,one of his key supporters in the Oke-Ogun area is recovering.

He also used the opportunity to sympathize with the family of Mr. Obadara Johnson Obadare, who died after sustaining injuries from the attack.

Oriyomi commended the Oyo State Government for its efforts and financial investment in security but noted that kidnapping incidents are still increasing across the state.

He expressed concern that Amotekun operatives and other security agencies reportedly did not intervene for about an hour while the attack was ongoing.

The governorship hopeful stated that ,if elected, he would adopt a different approach with strong reforms in the state’s security system.

He expressed confidence in winning the upcoming election, citing widespread support across Oyo State.

Speaking about the Oke-Ogun region, Oriyomi promised special attention due to its unique challenges, especially regarding insecurity.

While in Saki, he also launched an initiative to provide insurance coverage for local hunters and praised them for their efforts in protecting the community.

During his visit, he engaged with hospital staff and the patient’s family, emphasizing that the health and safety of citizens would be a top priority in his administration if elected governor. He added that his government would be inclusive and serve all people, regardless of status.

He further stated that if given the opportunity to lead Oyo State in 2027, he would work diligently to build a transparent, people-centered government that ensures balanced development and prioritizes justice.

On security, Hamzat assured journalists that he would do everything possible to strengthen safety across the state and prevent future kidnapping incidents like the one involving Alhaji Hamzat Oladokun. He also called for stronger collaboration between residents and security agencies.
