The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the schedule for its 2026 primary elections, setting clear dates for the selection of candidates across federal and state levels ahead of the general elections.
According to the timetable, the House of Representatives primaries will hold on Friday, 15 May, 2026, while the Senate primaries are scheduled for Monday, 18 May, 2026.
The party further announced that the State House of Assembly primaries will take place on Wednesday, 20 May, 2026, followed by the governorship primaries on Saturday, 23 May, 2026.
The presidential primary election of the party is fixed for Monday, 25 May, 2026, marking the final stage of the APC’s candidate selection process for the upcoming general elections.
Party officials say the schedule is designed to ensure a smooth, orderly, and transparent primary process across all levels of the party structure. The timetable also allows adequate time for internal consultations, delegate preparation, and resolution of disputes where necessary.
The APC leadership is expected to issue further guidelines detailing modalities for the primaries, including delegate selection procedures, accreditation processes, and security arrangements for the various congresses.
With the announcement, aspirants across the country are expected to intensify consultations and mobilization efforts as the party moves into a critical phase of its internal democratic process.
The primaries will produce candidates who will represent the APC in the 2026 general elections across legislative, executive, and presidential contests.
