The Secretary of the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State, Hon. Ademola Oke, has dismissed reports that some members of the All Progressives Congress defected to the APM.
Oke described the gathering at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, as a “jamboree concert,” insisting that it should not be interpreted as a political defection.
The APM secretary stated this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday.
He said none of the 351 ward chairmen in the state, members of the state executive committee or local government chairmen of the APC had defected to the APM.
Oke urged the public to disregard claims suggesting that the party had received a major influx of APC members, saying the attendance at the Adamasingba event should not be presented as a formal political movement.
He maintained that genuine defections should be identified through the appropriate party structures and procedures.
