Dr. George Moghalu, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former National Auditor, has formally resigned from the party. His resignation was communicated through a letter addressed to his Uruagu Ward 1 chairman in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State. A copy of the resignation letter was also sent to both his state and local government party chairmen.
In the letter, titled ‘Resignation of Membership of the APC,’ Moghalu stated that the resignation is effective from August 26, 2024. While he did not specify his future political intentions, he attributed his departure to personal reasons. Moghalu’s decision comes after a period of speculation and multiple denials about his intentions to leave the APC.

Moghalu, who previously served as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, expressed his appreciation for the relationships built during his time with the APC. He wished his former colleagues well and hoped to maintain the friendly relations established over the years.
This move marks a significant shift in the political landscape, given Moghalu’s long-standing association with the APC and his role within the party.
